Aziz Ansari- Modern Romance
A second show has been added at 10 p.m. Get tickets for that performance here.
The man deemed by Rolling Stone as “the funniest man under 30,” Aziz Ansari, will perform one night of stand-up comedy, MODERN ROMANCE. The comedian-actor who talks about everyday life, American culture and pop culture will share his views about modern dating. It makes sense since Ansari recently landed a book deal about how new technologies have radically changed the basic issues faced by a single person.
Ansari co-stars opposite Amy Poehler as “Tom Haverford” on the Emmy-nominated NBC series Parks and Recreation, now in its sixth season. He has won critical praise for his portrayal of the government employee from Entertainment Weekly (“Breakout TV Star”), TV Guide (“Scene Stealer”) and People (2011 “Funniest Dude in Prime Time”) magazine.
Ansari began his stand-up career in 2000 while attending New York University. As he describes it, “I was 18 when I started. I was hanging out with some friends and they asked if I had tried stand-up before. I hadn’t, but I thought: ‘What the hell?’ So I went to an open mic night, and I liked it.”
Ansari graduated as a business major in 2004 and, three years later, starred in the critically acclaimed MTV sketch comedy show that he created, Human Giant, which ran for two seasons. Acting roles in feature films followed including Funny People, I Love You, Man, Observe and Report and 30 Minutes or Less.
His stand-up career still strong, Ansari recently released on Netflix his much anticipated third hour-long special, Buried Alive. The special was named one of the best stand-up specials of the year by The Onion AV Club and Paste magazine.
His second special, Dangerously Delicious, self-released in 2012 for $5 through his website, was featured on Comedy Central. His debut CD/DVD, Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening, was released in 2010 on Comedy Central Records. Both albums continue to be a mainstay on iTunes’ comedy bestseller list.
