Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony

Saturday, January 21 at 8pm

Jessie Montgomery: Records from a Vanishing City
Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 3
Beethoven: Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral”

Ankush Kumar Bahl, conductor
Nancy Chang, violin

A concert that spans town and country. In his Symphony No. 6, Beethoven is in awe of the power of nature, with a prayerlike sense of gratitude after surviving the storm. Jessie Montgomery’s tone poem Records from a Vanishing City soaks up the music that surrounded her growing up in New York, including Latin jazz, alt rock, classical and Caribbean dance music. Mozart’s sunny Violin Concerto No. 3 features TFO Associate Concertmaster Nancy Chang.
